Flower CSA Agreement

At Obercreek Farm, we wish to provide you with fresh, seasonal certified organic food flowers for you on our farm. As a member you will receive a portion of our harvest. This CSA agreement outlines both us the farmers and you our member and the commitment to that relationship.

Obercreek Farm grows and hosts their own Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). As a CSA Farm this mutually beneficial relationship between our farm and you as our customer allows for a direct transfer of produce from our farm to you, our member.

The 10 week UPick flower share will run from late June/early July to early September. You will be notified of the start date via email. You may come to the farm once a week for 10 weeks to pick a large flower bouquet. You will need to bring your own clippers for harvesting. We will let you know the exact date via email, post it on our website and social media accounts, in mid May. We will determine the exact length when we understand how our the flowers are performing. We are predicting the 2019 season to start July 3rd and run through September 4th 2019

Pick-up days:

Members are responsible for picking up their share at their designated location and on their designated pick-up day.

On-farm CSA members pick-up weekly on their designated day at the farm on Wednesday's between 4pm-7pm or Saturday's between 9am-Noon at:

Obercreek Farm Stand: 81 New Hamburg Road, Wappingers Falls NY 12590

U-Pick crops:

For UPick CSA members, for insurance reasons, you will need to bring your own clippers and vessel for harvesting.

What if I go on vacation?

If you go on vacation you may have a friend or family member pick up your share that week. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. Unfortunately we are unable to hold any shares for future dates. Once your pickup window is closed, any missed share will be donated to a local food bank.

What happens to my share if I forget to pick up?

Obercreek Farm has partnered with several food banks in our area. If you have not made prior arrangements for someone to pick up for you, at our discretion, some or all of any unclaimed shares will then be donated. Please note that once the pick-up is over, pick-up is over. If you forget to pick up on Wednesday, that does not mean you can just show up on Saturday to claim your share. ‘’

Pick-up protocol or "what do I do when I get there?":

Before your first CSA pick-up you will receive an email with any specific information you may need for picking up at the farm. You are required to sign in first, before proceeding to pick-up your share. You will need to bring your own clippers and vessel to bring your flowers home in. You will need to read our signage and informational board for the day, before gathering your items.

Our growing practices:

We are a USDA Certified Organic Farm and follow only organic growing practices. We strive to provide high quality, fresh, seasonal produce by enriching and maintaining the health of our soils, water quality and air through our farming practices. By using practices such as composting, cover cropping and companion planting, we are able to encourage our crops and soils to produce and maintain high fertility. Our crops are grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or GMO (genetically modified organisms) and are grown outside as well as in our four passive solar greenhouses year round.

We are dedicated to preserving the natural integrity of our land by nurturing a biologically diverse environment. We want to foster a place where the community can come together to teach, learn, experience, and celebrate life in the Hudson Valley. In addition we pride ourselves on being able to provide and support our farmers with a fair and sustainable living wage.

We are certified through the Northeast Organic Farming Association: New York Division or NOFA-NY

Harvest expectations:

The list below outlines some of the vegetables we hope to have and when you may see them in your share. This list is based on our best estimate and experience, but of course weather, pests, and other events will affect actual production and timing.

UPick Flower Share Members will self pick 1 flower bouquet weekly for the alloted time.

We promise to do our best to provide you with a generous selection for the share each week. Our aim is to provide high quality organic flowers, however, crops are exposed to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts may sometimes reduce quality or quantity. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows:

If only a small portion of crops fail, we will compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown and that are ready for harvest at that time. We grow a large diversity of crops for this reason, so if one things suffers, there is something else that is thriving.

In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to local restaurants, and wholesale distributors. Please note that we produce some items in greater abundance for our other outlets, just as we grow some items in greater abundance for our CSA members.

Food Safety:

We take the safety of your food seriously. We maintain high standards of quality, and wash our produce before being distributed to our members (crop dependent) For your added protection, we recommend members wash all produce again before eating. Because of food safety concerns, NO DOGS OR PETS will be allowed on the farm. If a dog or pet is on property, we will ask you to keep them in your car or remove them from the property. Repeat violation of this policy will result in termination of your farm share with no payment refund.

By selling membership in advance of the growing season, or members help reduce the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seed, equipment and ensure our farmers receive a living wage during the off seasons. All payments must be paid in full and before the first pickup to ensure membership into the CSA. We do have a cap at 20 members so and are expected once again to sell out. We recommend sign ups before March 31st 2019 to ensure your share. If unable to afforded the full cost up front, you may contact us at info@obercreekfarm.com to make arrangements.

All payments are non-refundable. The farm has the right to terminate any memberships at any time, with or without reason

You may find someone to take over your share if you are unable to continue yours.

The best way to communicate with us is via email. Our email is info@obercreekfarm.com or call our office at 845-632-3848 or our Farmstand at 845-218-9262. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but we are often in the field growing your food and not at our desk.

We will communicate with you by email and through our social media accounts. When you sign up, you will be added to our email distribution list. Please read your email from us. We depend on being able to communicate important information such as necessary changes to your distribution schedule or to farm events. We do our best to communicate news, photos and information through our emails and social media accounts, so please take time to read it. Every week we will post a photo of that week’s share, as well as news from the farm. Be sure to follow us on facebook and instagram.

Summary of Terms and Conditions:

In becoming a member of Obercreek Farm CSA, I recognize that due to the inherent risks of farming there are no guarantees on the exact amount or type of produce I will receive.

As a farm member myself and any other members of my household who will be picking up a share, I am responsible for learning how the Obercreek Farm CSA works and the specific pick-up protocol for my site.

It is my responsibility to pick up my share at the designated time, or to have someone familiar with the pick-up process do so for me. If I do not pick-up my share at the designated place and time, I forfeit my share. At the discretion of the farm, my share will be donated to a food pantry, composted or redistributed.

I understand that UPick crops may lengthen the time it takes me to pick up my share.

I also understand that if I cannot continue my share, that all payments are final and I will not be refunded the share price. The farm hold the right to terminate membership with or without reason and will not issue refunds for the remainder of the season.
